I'm sure more than a few of you have ran into the problem of transports being separated from their escorts. (They either get left behind, or go off on a kamikaze charge with no support.) I've also had issues where I've wanted to pre group stacks for an attack, but want them to advance as a group. I have also had the annoyance of transports being left behind when the troops they are moving are depleted. Very annoying when you go to reinforce your attack group, only to find half their transports are 2-3 turns back in another city. I was wondering then, why there was no ability to group different troop types? The most obvious method to me would be to tie it to the number keys. With Ctrl+number creating a group. This would allow you to tie your bombers transports and ground units together. As well as making more complex attacks less time consuming to implement. Movement wise, the stack would move or stay together. Moving with the lowest initiative of the stack (if initiative become implemented). Combat and casualty wise, the actual results would be unaltered, however casualties would come out of non grouped members of the stack first. Then being split evenly between stacks, if their is more than 1 together. Hopefully, this would have the effect of making mixed stack manoeuvring a lot easier and reliable, and so cut down on the tank rush mentality we see so often.

From this same thread, according to Mufasa: tried typing without clicking on the chat box, it doesn't register. So having shortcut keys won't interfere with the chat. I would really be nice if for example I hold M and click on a city and am allowed to directly drag all marines out of the city without accessing any other units. And this has been verified by me too.

Yes, I've had this same problem. When I don't have enough troops to fill up my transports, but i still want to take all the transports in the stack with me, have to move my troops in their transports, and then go back and move the leftover transports. I think there should be two options when you go to move your troops with a transport: -Move the troops with minimum amount of transports -Move troops will all transports in the stack. This will solve the issue of leaving transport behind without knowing and it will make things faster because you wont have to waste time going back and moving the leftovers.
