Obama have more money to operate ($3000 billion) but he is still unable to make the difference even though his country is 1# developed economy. Putin in the other hand have only $500 billion to operate and his country growth rate was 7% before 2008 financial crisis (caused by america to slow world's economic progress so they can maintain 1#). Russian standard of living raised for 5000% since collapse of USSR, more job opportunities, 11 million immigrants. American didnt progress for 2% even though they have more opportunities with money they own. From government budget of $3000 billion, take $500 billion (don't fund military so much) and give as loans to workers, $200,000 each to start business, thats 2,500,000 workers, 2,500,000 new start-up companies every year. Let's say the employ 1 more worker, that's another 2,500,000 jobs in one year(but what if he create company and need 50 workers, that mean in 1 year you can create 10 million available jobs easily, someone will employ 1, others 10, other 50). In 20 years american economy can jump from $17,000 billion to $30,000 billion, by half of century it can be $50,000 billion dollars and standard of living will be the best in the world. But no, better to spend on military and 700 bases while 10 million americans starving, 40 million live on food stamps, 100 million doesn't have healthcare and 11 million americans incarcerated.

Russia is a dying power. Their power peaked in Khrushchev's and Brezhnev's time. This "resurgence" of Russia's in the 21st Century is, I believe, a temporary irregularity that will correct itself soon enough. The same can be said for the United States, although their decline won't be fully evident for another few decades.

There was no Russia during Khruschev and Brezhnev time, that was 1960s and 1970s. That was USSR. Russian Federation is created in 1992. Russian Federation is born without power, with poor people and anarchical system. It didn't had power to lose in the first place. That's why West call it 'resurgent' Russia implying USSR or Russian Empire, but fact and reality is that only Russian standard of living gone up and crime gone down, nothing else. Russian Federation doesn't have imperial ambitions like Russian Empire, neither militaristic policies like USSR. Russian Federation is AVOIDING power, as power bring only responsibility and no reputation or respect. Russia doesn't want responsibility, Russia doesn't need allies or vassals. Russia need friends. Germany and Japan demilitarized after WWII and focused on economy, that's what Russia is doing today, USSR collapsed and Russia continue as new neutral state which focus on economy. It reduced it's military from 2 million to 700,000 and almost abolished conscription, 80% of Russian Army are volunteers, contract servicemen.

Heh. What the United States might be able to pull off militarily against the Russians, I seriously doubt they'll be able to do against the Chinese. That is, with conventional warfare. I have no doubt that both sides will be able to turn each other into radioactive wastelands if they chose to.

Usa has a better economy but has 15 trillion debt, whilst Russia has 700 billion. Usa has land but Russia has more land, more renewable water and oil/ gas, so its gonna be ok in the long run, no matter what ( certainly not dying as someone said). Usa has more people but only twice the active military personel than Russia and Russia has more reserves. More people means more and faster resource and food depletion for USA. Russia produce more oil and gas, has 4 times more oil reserves than Usa and consumes 7 times less.
Not to mention in times of war things dramatically change and you have to take into account other factors aswell like The better technology Usa has can turn into a disadvantage, when racing to produce expensive and time consuming aircrafts and ships, when at the same time Russians can replenish their stacks cheaper and faster. The Usa fa 18 fighter while a marvel of technology costs 70 million and takes a week to make 1 - not very efficient in a full blown scale war. Or how 1 cheap Russian submarine is all it takes to sink a supreme Usa carrier making Usa loose billions. Or how vulnerable Usa superior military technology is to hacking and cyber warfare and satelite destruction. Also Russia is a massive, huge country and is focusing on defense in contrast with the ww2 USSR, is autonomous and self sufficient and can supply its front lines quickly and efficiently. USA has its forces scattered around the globe and logistics will make it very hard to keep a steady supply of troops and supplies in the front lines. Even if it manages to mantain air superiority, conquering all the way to Moscow and St. Peter and keeping them is virtualy impossible.
Blockade what exactly? Keeping in mind that China shares border with a friendly nation, Russia, its safe to say that China will have all its needs covered. In this scenario, alliances will play a major role and specifically India and Vietnam/Singapoore/Malaysia, mainly because Chinas oil is passing through there. But still not a great factor. China will take Taiwan 5 minutes after Usa declares war, thus establishing dominance over South China sea. Its fleet is more than capable of defending Chinas shores, against the Japanese as well, China has way larger fleet than USA and the means to make many many more. Moreso USA will have to cross the Pacific and this is not ww2. China has satelites to track enemy ships and lots of cheap submarines and time to hunt them down and sink them before they reach Chinas shores. Same with planes. China is also not Japan in ww2, it cannot be blockaded and cannot be starved and out of oil/ materials like japan was. Also in the extreme case of a land intrusion, it has like 700 million people who can fight if needed, has more tanks even than USA and an ok airforce, which is very cheap to build and reinforce in case of war. Not to mention they started building carriers themselves and are excelent in cyber warfare. Safe to say theres not a one in a million chance, USA will have any luck on beating China in a full blown out war on their turf.
Dont be so optimistic. Nato as a whole, that is with a unified Europe can conquer Russia, in the possibility of a full blown out war, under the premise that whole Europe is united. Although not without extreme losses and the threat of nuclear weapons being used. But in a ww, alliances play an importand role and they tend to favour the less dominant/imperialistic. Whatever the case, things wont be so pleasant in the East, as China will almost definately prevail in that theatre of war. So the middle is where its at and India will play a crucial and dominating role there. May i remind you how fast India is advancing both in military and technology ( sent satelite in Mars) , how big it and its people is and how Russia and India are bff's?
