It isnt so poor, it should have more resources and cities, it can compete with other continents in terms of resources, its poor cause colonialsm and corruption, not cause resources r limited, and few african, south american countries have respectabile armies
---- It's scary how many possible genocidal war lords play this game, and i could be one of them

Down vote germany got raped in two world wars and occupied by communists, in a brief period it now leads the european union that's with a land mass 23% smaller then it had prior to ww1. How long can we blame colonialism? Yes africa has resources, so do places like Romania and Sri Lanka, but the people there remain under developed. As long as africa remains a tribalistic place outside of its cities it will never exploit its vast natural resources properly, and the few that do like Nigeria gypt and south africa I think they are properly established and balanced on the map. The only buff I think is worth while is another city with 1-3 reminds and 15-40 income in ethiopia. As for south America I think its priced just right, it's a beautiful continent's with vast natural resources, that is plagued by corruption and strangled in drug cartels.

Some decisive facts on "Germany's economic miracle": (1) ally strategy in WWII was to bomb the transport ways (specially railway) and not the industry and bigger infrastructure (Dresden is the exception, which was a direct retaliation of the bombing of UK cities, specially London). (2) there was a huge investment in the recovery of (West) Germany in face of the cold war and contention of communism in Europe. These two basic conditions were fundamental for the fast recovery of Germany after WWII. Ofc. you can say that the population also mattered for the reconstruction, but basically the condition of "business as usual" was the decisive point of the "German economic miracle". On the other hand, "colonial legacy" in Africa does not stop with the end of direct colonialism (last countries became formally independent in the 70s; not including Namibia in this list) but continues up to nowadays in many matters: artificial borders, tribalism that was promoted (even invented in some cases) by colonial powers, involvement of multinational companies in systematic human rights abuses and acts of corruption that udermine any domestic attempt to take development issues in own hands, perverse armory business with warlords, ineffective and corrupt multinational interventions in crisis situations, culture of violence in some countries that originated in the colonial interventions (for instance Belgians in Congo, Germans in Rwanda, French with the Foreign Legion and massacres in northern Africa after WWII, etc.)... Just saying that not everything is black/white... there are many factors that add to a rational explanation beyond the stereotypes.
