Confusion About Forums?

So I have been playing this game for awhile now and quite frankly the forums just seem to be kind of a mess. I realize people around here don't like posts like this, but I figure its worth sharing some quick thoughts anyway.

I do not understand why for instance people can say things like "you tiny dicked goat fucker" or other direct insults, and not have their messages removed. While messages such as "how is a person allying themselves any different from allying another player at the start of a game?" get removed. I have been a part of many gaming forums and direct insults are NEVER ok, while questions such as this certainly fit into a general discussion area.

Furthermore, why would a thread like "Hellraisers" be locked because he wants to share some info with the community? And be told he should just directly pm Mods info instead of bringing awareness to a question many people in the community had? I see threads locked all over the place, for seemingly no reason, whilst insulting and pointless arguments are allowed to take place.

While there are some concrete examples like this, is seems to me the overall "tone" of the forums and how they are run is very confusing to me and does not make it a friendly environment for discussing the game. Which is why I generally do not post on here, and i'm sure many other players are kept away as well.

Maybe someone can explain some of the reasoning behind this? The Atwar forums just seem to be very different, and run very differently than any other gaming forum I have been a part of and it stinks because I love this game but posting on forums often just seems like a waste of time.

They don't moderate everything because "his is the internet. Punishing all acts of petty namecalling would require a moderation team 10 times the size of this one." - Laochra.

While I do agree that if you call someone a noob it doesn't makes any harm, meesing with someone's life and family should be strictly forbidden. Also only a couple of mods cares about manners. Personally I've been insulted and see others being insulted directly by mods. Nothing new though, in the past both spart and acq used to from time to time. Don't know in Beta version.

As for jelly thread he did bumped many old threads, that's against the rule so can't be argued. His thread in general was just to compliment the abuse, trust locked too.

I said it once and i'll say it again. AW is full of cancerous, ignorant and racist people, sometimes its simply not worth the time posting things here. I'd hope things would change but it probably won't.

I think what you just said is exactly my point though....I am a little confused as to why you can write insults up and down your thread, while my question that is 100% game related is deemed as being off-topic and being removed and locked. Insults are fine while asking game related questions are deleted and locked? Makes absolutely no sense to me.

I don't get it where was your question deleted? If it was a question it should have been in questions forum and other than moving post out and in, we don't do much moderating there.

I agree.... i wish for reform, but i dont think admins will actually do anything about it.

Why don't we get rid of all our current mods in exchange for people who are serious about the rules.

Mods arent getting paid so by definition they are not professional...
as for Atwar community its like any other forums, 10% people constructive (and discouraged) 40% village idiots and 50% trolling teenagers.
I fully agree though that profanity should be removed 1st task of mods, off topic removal is a joke

Direct insults are maybe only in off topic(not operated part of forum)
don't know for other thing about normal messages,message ivan he will see what's happening....mbe remove some mods xd

I know about that,mods just like to protect some players who are hacking,so today,one hacker that DDOS when he loses game on atwar is free to DDOS and no one cares because mods autodelete every post about him and tell:"we are researching him,but if he sees your topics,he will stop"......
They cannot ban hacker but could ban me with no reason.......
At the end,that thing about insulting topics,mods insult us too,just see this:

In the very thread in question this guy insulted Prometheus and claimed he wouldn't know how to beat him on "the big map".

Have we just forgotten about this?

I think the problem is the format of the game. With such one on one fights people can become hateful towards one another for many of reasons ie losing to a rush, someone breaking the rules ect. There are more reasons to hate/dislike someone in this game than to like someone but, thats how a person perceives the world. This attitude and hatfulness spreads through AW and it gets infectious.

So unless we have a psychiatrist to study our behaviour, AW will be AW.

To be fair I did not know I broke any rules, aswell I did not make the post to compliment the abuse, I made it because I was seeing a whole lot of speculation and confusion about new strategies showing up in the upgrades tab, so I did some research. If I was better with forums I'd just of linked each to a central post but I always fuck that up. I don't care that it was locked as long as people see the information I was trying to relay to them.

This doesnt really add to the discussion, but it takes allot of time to look through every forum for insults and flamewars.
Please use the report button at the top of the forum, it makes it so problems are much more likely to get looked into

On the actual topic, just be nice on forums please, JF said it pretty well
