I have a suggestion regarding strategies. What if you allowed a player to make his own custom strategy, by that I mean allowing a player to choose which category in a unit's performance to increase/decrease based off of a predetermined spread.

For example, lets say a unit has: 10 attack, 10 defense, 5 critical, 5 collateral, 10 hp, 10 range, and 50 cost. The total spread of all the categories is 100 (by that I mean adding up all the different categories) and lets say the predetermined spread is 5. So, the player would then have the ability to increase any one of the unit's categories by 5, but would have to decrease it by 5 in another category still maintaining the overall 100 count.

So, in the example, if you increased the attack to 15, then you would have to decrease 5 from range. Thus, the player would have the ability to increase/decrease any category by a total of 5, but would still have to maintain the total 100.

If this doesn't make sense let me know and I can try to explain this better, but this is just a thought.

One problem there: increasing the unit's price would mean having to lower its stats. To solve that, the price should be inversely proportional. Anyhow, this idea for a strategy sounds... wierd... very wierd. Having the power to play with all the stats of a unit (or even from all the units) is way too much freedom isn't it?

Well, I guess I would say that each player (or a premium player) gets to make 1 free custom strategy for him/herself, but is controlled by the spread number (i.e. the number he/she can increase/decrease the categories by so it doesn't become to uneven/unfair for non-premium players). This would just give people a little more freedom to design a strategy they like for their game play and make games that more interesting. So, if you want more range, then you can increase unit range by 5 (or whatever the predetermined allowed spread would be) but would have to decrease 5 from other categories to keep it fair. So, the player gets a little more freedom in constructing one strategy for him/herself.

This is not a strategy by itself, but an option for a player to make his/her own custom strategy.

We already discussed this some time ago ...came to a conclusion it would be ok for map makers to play with this making their own strategies for the map, but it would be bad for the default game.

I understand this happens in custom maps and scenarios anyway. I think as long there is some kind of restriction on the strat so it isn't op against other established strats, this could work in the world map, however unlikely it is too be implemented. It would be interesting to see players have a strategy that is unique to them that they can tweak and manage over time also it will help people to understand the game mechanics better. As I say I am pretty sure this will never happen though. Leading on from this, maybe it wouldn't be possible for cartographers to introduce unique strats to their map, that would add a new dynamic to map making and the game in general.
