Fame system: Alternative to the current Rep system.

This is the solution I've research for replace the Reputation system. Adding a new "Fame system" in which players are ranked up by their fame. Basically when you click on rep someone, your rep wort certain fame points. The fame points are calculated by using different formulas, taking into account the rank and the number of players you had rep.

Additionally to this, you can also earn fame by just playing games.

Formulas I

Current formula suggested by International: [ Rank / √(N.rep) ]

4th rep:
Rank 2 would wort 1 fame.
Rank 5 would wort 2.5 fame.
Rank 8 would wort 4 fame.
Rank 13 would wort 6.5 fame.

36th rep:
Rank 3 would wort 0.5 fame.
Rank 6 would wort 1 fame.
Rank 8 would wort 1.3 fame.
Rank 12 would wort 2 fame.

100th rep:
Rank 2 would wort 0.2 rep.
Rank 3 would wort 0.3 rep.
Rank 9 would wort 0.9 rep.
Rank 15 would wort 1.5 rep.


Reps are meant to be updated right after you rep someone or rank-up.

Formulas II

Current Formula: [ (√Sp) * (N/2) * avg ] / 100(W^2).

Example 1: 2 players, avg rank is 10, one player won and earned 2,500 SP. Then, the winner(s) would earn 1 fame points.
Example 2: 20 players, avg rank was 7, 3 players won and the sum of their earned SP is 6,561 SP. Then, the winner(s) would earn 1.26 fame points.

1 out of 4 rank 6 rep4rep
2 out of 9 rank 7 rep4rep
5 out of 6 rank 8 rep4rep <<<< rep4rep peak. After rank 8 it start to go down.

1 out of 6 rank 11 rep4rep.
0 out of 3 rank 12 rep4rep
3 out of 3 rank 13 rep4rep <<<<<< WTF! expected trolls.

The result were too few, so we can barely conclude anything from this

Not sure I understood this correctly, but how will this fix reps and rep4rep abuses. It also seems like it will just inflate the number of "fame" points with those formulas.

Formula II

Decrease Rates:

First rep -9th rep wort 1x each
10th rep - 29th rep wort 0.8x each
20th -50th rep wort 0.5x each
50+th rep wort 0.2x each

I think that it would be better for example. If you give 10 reps, all the rep are worth 0.8, and not just the 10th.
Simply because, the first people you rep are usually not the one's who are worth the most rep. (might be a bunch of inactive rank 3 )

That is how it actually works

As soon as you research the 10th rep, all the reps you grave, and the ones you are going to give up to the 29th are wort 0.8x.

You can still abuse this feature: that is, death1812 will just have to triple the amount of his alts to compensate for an implementation like such

In addition, there is a huge discrepancy in "the more you rep, the less your rep worth; the lower your rank, the less your rep worth." This is because most lower ranks know of less players and will logically rep a lesser amount of players than higher ranks. So essentially this puts the values of lower ranks' reps to its original worth of about 1: not solving the problem at all, in fact complicating it

Lastly, I recently made a rank 0 alt just for fun and I cannot give any reps or upvotes with it. Though it doesn't solve rep4rep, it seems to minimize complete overflow. Plus most players take reps as grain of salt, and you should too once you've been in community long enough

It will be more harder for him than you think... Not only making 3 account, but also levering them up to rank 2 as you can only rep at rank 2. By the way he does this, the players who deserves their rep will already be at the very top since the more your rank, the more your reps wort.

Not sure if I understand this right... Low ranks will eventually rank up and rep more people, and their rep will wort more or less depending of how much players they rep. That their first reps wort 4 fame points {until their 9th rep} is totally right when you take into account that a rank 12 rep wort almost 4x this number. Even a rank 12 who had give more than 51 reps and their rep wort 2x still gives up around 3.8 fame.

The main goal of this implementation is to make reps wort something, to be more objective.

Of course you can always farm in any type of system, but this one will make it a lot harder to farm reps.... or this is what I aspire for. I can change up the formulas depending of the arguments in this thread.

The current rep system is one of those things I would say the community should conform to rather than try to solve. It's not worth the hassle to create an impeccable arithmetic to accommodate every possibility of farming something that is so silly in the first place; and if you say the arithmetic doesn't have to be perfect, well then why replace a half-baked circumstance with another half-baked measurement

To clarify and elaborate on the flaw of "the more you rep, the less your rep worth; the lower your rank, the less your rep worth:"

To give an example, a rank2 has only given out 1 rep - by comparison, a rank9 40 reps.

The rank 2's reps now are worth less because of their rank, but the rank 9's reps are also worth less due to them giving more reps than the r2 (x40). And this is a suitable example, because most r2's will have only given ~1 or no reps. Same applies to the r9.

In the end, both ranks' reps equal out to about a similar value (or fame, what you may). And to implement a system that either emphasizes devaluing the reps of lower ranks or those who rep more is flawed in itself: it discourages lower ranks from using reps in the first place and higher ranks from ranking up (if they care about reps, even)

Just acquiesce in the current situation rather than fight it

I am very surprised to suggest a proposal that is simpler than the original one, because normally I'm accused of being unnecessarily baffling.

How about a simple a player's rep is worth that player's rank divided by the square root of the number of reps given?
