Gladly. Germany is a founding member and indisputably the engine behind the EU and the eurozone. I think Kissinger said something like, "poor Germany, too big for Europe, too small for the world". The country is in this awkward position where it can't (and doesn't really want to) exercise military strength because of WWII, so it projects power through economic dominance and EU bureaucracy. There's no question the Germans excel economically; besides having the largest population and GDP in Europe they enjoy a stable budget, low unemployment, and high exports. The French voice is minimal these days. This isn't to say the Germans are bad, they just pursue their own self-interest, which naturally differs from say Greece or Spain's. Just being in the eurozone means surrendering all monetary policy to a foreign ECB, based in Frankfurt. And that's not even mentioning all the EU rules and regulations. Sovereignty is a zero-sum game, every additional decision made in Brussels is one less made in by your own ELECTED representatives.

That's the same anti-German propaganda that most Americans believe. America wants to be able to control European countries directly, like they do with every other region in the world. The EU as a federal body stops that.
Now lets look at some facts. Germany alone contributed 22 Billion to the EU national budget, more than any other country. In fact, Germany alone - Europe's largest economy - paid more than the 19 lowest-paying member states combined.
It has also taken in the most amount of refugees out of all the EU member states. The EU has benefited every country that has joined it so far - except Greece. Greece is the outlier. The most benefited country being Ireland.This is not a "post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy". These are facts.

You've conveniently left out the most important issue; trade. There is free trade between all EU member states making business possible for small business owners, aswell as attracting multinationals. Not to mention the benefits as an EU student, graduate, tourist, patient, consumer and farmer. Oh, and it's also ensured democracy across Europe for the past 60 years!

I have to interfere here; Acquiesce have right about EU not solving debt, and i don't agree with you on refugee issue because Germany INVITED them, they did not only accept them. And just because Germany need them, doesn't mean other EU members want them (not to mention 'refugee quota' Germany is not pushing after they saw complain and distress among their citizens, quota which says other EU states have to accept refugees that ENTERED Germany after being INVITED)

Second, EU is redundant for trade, some eastern europea and balkan countries are still not EU and they successfully trade among themselves. EU just fooled you (most of us) that we (the world) need them to facilitate trade, while in reality we do that successfully for the last 70 years. Sure we have to sign some more paperwork but that does not discourage small business (as proven 40-50 years ago in the same territories where is now EU).
