3rd Afterwind 1v1 Tournament Spring/Summer

General information:
This is the third 1v1 Afterwind tournament. The settings are going to change again, to prevent the same tournaments every season. However, Europe+ and 10k still seem to be the most popular settings, so it will not be changed. The initial countries will be changed to 2! Its not used very often and it gives both player more starting combinations, without using the same Strategy and first turn trick over and over again. Different rules, Different settings, More fun!

Current status: Tournament started. New registrations will be placed on the reservelist

Tournament type: 2 times knockout system:
This will be the same system that was used in the 2nd Afterwind tournament. It's a double elimination system.

Scheduling matches
Find you opponents in the seedings, and contact the player. If you have trouble with scheduling your match, contact Caulerpa or Hugosch. The player that is on top of the seedings, has to create the game.

Joining and seedings
You can join this tournament by posting a message in this forum or contact Caulerpa or Hugosch by a PM or in game. The registration will be closed on 21April and the seedings will be set on 22April. Also, that will be the start of the tournament. Players with the highest ranks get first picks in the seedings, to prevent a rank10 vs rank10 in the first round.

Default Match rules:
Game Type*: Quick game
Map: Europe+
Turn duration: 4mins
Starting funds: 10k
Maximum players*: 2
Joining until week*: 0
Victory: Capture player capital and hold for at least 2 turns
Game duration: 50turns
Rares: None
Initial countries: 2
+100 cities: On
Allow rejoining*: Off
Additional rules:
- It is not allowed to move your units into enemy territory within the first turn
- If both players doesn't want to pick first at the country selection, then the player that has been drawn first, has to pick.
- The match rules are only default: If both players agree on other gamerules (like other turn duration, map, initial countries or both players don't have premium), then it is allowed to change the default rules. Rules marked with * are non-negotiable
- If there are players with serval accounts; you can enter the tournament with just ONE of them. Entering the tournament with more accounts will lead to disqualification on all accounts.

Reporting your score
- Make a screenshot that will show who is the winner and post it here!
- When your enemy cheated (by attacking in the first turn for example); make a screenshot of that happening, and also post it here.

Current signups (64/64):
The signups are placed in 2 groups. The registration is closed, so this groups are definite signups are open for reserves now.

Yoba, yes i will match up according ranks. The players with the higher ranks get first seets in a random order. After that i will place the other players in the brackets, also random. This will prevent that TopHats meets Pera in the first round.

Ok seriously there is major flaw in this tournament, we in byzantia have played a good quantity of 1vs1 with this settings, Results? Ukraine is the strongest country by far and can't or is really hard to counter.

Why?
1.Ukraine is the only 10k country that can afford a decent second country and start with a decent amout of money
2.Ukraine was already with the traditionall setting a beast hard to defeat
3. The traditional counter to Ukraine was western europe or turkey depending of ukraien strategy, Now western europe is in deep shit if ukraine pick austria and get germany first turn. And Turkey is in bad position if ukraine pick greece or serbia first turn.
4.This place Ukraine in a position where it is not countered and almost impossible to beat.
5. Maybe that a combo of 2 5k countries could succeed but after trying a lot of combo with Austria/Sweden/greece/poland/belarus/serbia none are really working and cant be considered as a direct counter
6. This tournament was here to add much more flexibility and to bring something new..... This won't happen we will have a tournament where the player that pick Ukraine will have more than 50% chance of winning each game....
7.We need to find a solution to this problem and personnaly i suggest that UK/France/Spain/Italy/Ukraine/Turkey can't pick a second country.(The list can be chanegd if you want)
8.By doing this every 10k countries will still be playable, Ukraine won't be OP and it will be possible to play a mix of to 5k countries(Except Ukraine that can be considered as a 5k or a 10k country)
9.I hope that some players will support this idea..... it's in my opinion the best way to fix the ukrainian problem. Starting a tournament when one country have the upperhand and is sure to win more than 50% of his game against everything is the worst thing.

Thanks, If you don't agree with me Hugosch, will you agree if a good quantity of players that are in the tournament sign a petition?

@ThomasMer; I will try to play a few games against a few opponents that take Ukraine, maybe against you? If you are right, and Ukraine is really OP, then the rules are open for discussion.

What about going Romania and Belarus as your two countries, to counter Ukraine?

Ok Nateballer i always respected you but thsi is to much....

First, Tophats complaiend abotu ukraine too
Second, I'm not complaining about 2 countries... i'm complainign about ukraine+ an other country
Third, Byzantia have the majority of the active decent 1vs1 player in teh coalition... it's normal that there is more complain in this coalition then from any other coalition
Four, yesterday you should have lost a game against GW Ukraine... You won cause you avoided turnblock and the ukraine player forgot to cap you...... You shoudl have lose... If you one of the best GW players lose against A player who almost never play GW there is a problem with Ukraine!
Five, Not all the Byzantia players agree on the fact about Ukraine being op

That's nice... By the way, the face usually indicates that the previous statement was a joke. It is very easy to misinterpret things over the internet, so don't feel too bad.

He was SM, not GW, and we were merely testing a possible counter to Ukraine. I fail to see how this proves Ukraine is OP.

I was wondering how players are going to be seeded? Purely by SP or could it be a system where positions in the last tourneys are included and new comers are sorted by SP?

The total amount of players will be split in 2 groups, totally based on SP. The first group get first picks in the seedings in a random order. After that the second group wil pick the remaining seats, also in random order.

I'm not able to include last tourney. Simply because many players have changed their name over time.

Germany is far more expensive than Ukraine is.

By the way people, you don't have to pick 2 countries. You can always click "ready" and only have the one. After all, you only have one capital even if you pick more than one country.

Please clarify: - It is not allowed to move your units into enemy territory within the first turn
What exactly counts as inside enemy country? Touching the border or half way over the border?

To balance Ukraine you could set 15k starting funds if this will really be needed.

Obviously the no first-turn turnblock thing.

But continuing the anti-wallfucking discussion, I think Hugosch also doesn't want you to wall countries. Of course you can touch the border, just don't wall all of the enemy's cities first turn. I've actually seen this done, though it's a lot harder nowadays because you can't create defence lines when enemy units are nearby.

This is a simplification of a normal rule to prevent:
- Turnblocking enemy cities in first turn
- Wallfucking on enemy cities in first turn

These are the rules witch players normally play with. If you keep this in mind, then all should be fine. If there is a units close to a border or even on the border itself, but doesn't ruin a wall: I don't see any problem. Also: Moving your troops through enemy territory is allowed offcource, just make sure they are not in the territory when the second turn starts.

I support the idea of 15k. It is an other solution to the problem about ukraine. And well if you want to put 2 countries it will be great if you can play western europe with 2 countries

Hey, I said it first a long time ago! I always thought 15k was a good idea and posted about it, but the same people shot me down because apparently "it makes cheap strategies useless". Go figure.

You have 2 freakin' countries. I recall I compared it to playing 10k with one country. If it's Europe, you will probably go bankrupt unless you play a cheap strategy. Go figure.

It doesn't make Ukraine any less op. It's still cheap and has massive reinforcements. But hey, why not have Ukraine+Turkey with 60 starting reinforcements?
