Ask any question you have about the Forum Game. If you are unsure what a term or keyword means then you are free to ask, I will try to clarify any misunderstanding.

F.A.Q: How long is a turn?
- A turn is 24 hours long, but I make exceptions in order to make it more playable.

F.A.Q: What does a consul do?
-A consul makes propositions in the senate, consuls are meant to protect Rome from internet and external threats.

F.A.Q: What happens if Rome runs out of cash?
-Everyone loses except rebel commanders.

F.A.Q: What happen if we don't go to war?
-If there is 3 non-persecuted 4 active wars by the end of the turn, then everyone loses

F.A.Q: What does the censor do?
-censors persecute corrupt officials

F.A.Q: How many people can the censor persecute per turn?
-2 minor persecutions & 1 major one

F.A.Q: What are all of the turn phases?
1.- Revenue Phase, 2.- Forum Phase, 3.- Unrest Phase, 4.- Senate Phase, 5.- Combat Phase, 6.- Intrigue Phase.

F.A.Q: What are all of the Intrigue choices Cards:

Assassination [20 cost]
Blackmail [10 cost]
Influence Peddling [8 cost]
Mob Incited to Violence [10 cost]
Open Bodyguard [10 cost]
Proscription [20 cost]
Secret Bodyguard [15 cost]
Tribune [10 cost]

F.A.Q: What laws can be enacted?

Calpurian law: Censors can now fine corrupt governors that return to Rome. To determine the fine the censor will roll a dice roll and the governor must pay the same # as the roll.

Acilian Law: The power of the censor to fine corrupt governors is transfered to the faction with most equites during the senate phase. (Can't be enacted unless Calpurin law is enacted)

Military Reform: The power of the senate becomes more military oriented, players can no longer win by accumulating 35 influence.

Servilian Law: Your faction is now the champion of the Equestrians, this gives you a permanent +1 Dice roll when attracting knights. Discard this law in order to abolish the Acilian Law. (Can't be enacted unless Acilian Law is enacted).

Tradition Erodes: Consuls may repeat terms in succeeding years without limit (Can't be enacted unless a war with 15 or more military strength is active)

F.A.Q: Who enacts the laws?
-Consuls
-Dictators

F.A.Q: How many laws can a consul/dictator enact?
-Only one per pair.

F.A.Q: What are the list of concessions?

Armaments [Collect 2 talents for every legion formed]
Harbor Fees [Collect 3 talents per turn]
Land Commission [Collect 3 talents] [This concession is destroyed if there is no land-bill by the end of the senate phase]
Mining [Collect 3 talents per turn]
Ship Building [Collect 3 talents for every fleet build]

F.A.Q: Who gives concessions?

-Consuls
-Dictators

F.A.Q: What are the benefits of having a title?

-Benefit/Powers of being censor: +5 influence, can persecute corrupt players.
-Benefit/Power of being Pontifex Maximus: +5 influence, can assume temporal consul status if there is no other high rank senator in rome.
-Benefit/Powers of being Consul: +5 influence, First to make Proposals to the Senate, +1 diceroll in combat. Can veto proposals.

You can get concessions which are bribes given to you by a consul, you can be bribed by other players to vote X way, you can get funded by fellow faction members, or you can get a share of taxes if you are elected governor. But other than that: no..

The senate decides if an army is needed, then it decides where it needs to go, and then it decides who will lead it. Once the task is completed the commander has to return the troops back to the senate and loses his title of commander.

How long is the term of a consul?

"2 senate phases" in other words 1 turn.

Geschrieben von Skanderbeg, 07.08.2016 at 19:15

Who propose new consuls?

The dictator if there is one, if there is no dictator then the consuls propose the new consuls.

This is the chain of command:

1.- Dictator (If there is one)
2.- Roman Consul [Example: Darth]
3.- Field Consul [Example: Ghost]
4.- Censor
5.- Master of the horse
6.- Pontifex Maximus
7.- Senator

5.- Master of the horse
6.- Pontifex Maximus

1. What is the role of Master of the horse and Pontifex Maximus?

2. Can the term of the consul be little longer? Maybe 4 or 5 turns? Since one turn last like a year.

3. Also, maybe if a dictator is proposed and voted, then he can have unlimited term until senators propose and vote to take his power away (promotion-demotion).

4. We need to establish naval superiority & control before moving in our legions right? That mean we cannot land in Africa and invade Carthage before we destroy their navy?

The MoH is the dictators right hand and bodyguard, while the Pontifex Maximus is a honorary title.

Geschrieben von Skanderbeg, 07.08.2016 at 19:37

No, if the title lasts longer it would be impossible for other people to hold office.

Geschrieben von Skanderbeg, 07.08.2016 at 19:37

3. Also, maybe if a dictator is proposed and voted, then he can have unlimited term until senators propose and vote to take his power away (promotion-demotion).

Dictators can be re-elected if the requirements to have a dictator are meet. Senators can't propose a vote unless they use a tribune "card". Its impossible to vote a dictator out because they have veto power and dictatorial proposals can't be vetoed.

Geschrieben von Skanderbeg, 07.08.2016 at 19:37

Maybe then we need to change rules a bit: instead '3 turns inactive and game's over' make it '3 turns inactive and your enemy takes one of your region' (closest to him) ?

It is not nice to see game end before we see the result of our policies, investment and deals/connections. We need more time!

Beside this is our first Forum Game, we can establish rules now so when we start new one we will have easier gameplay.

I actually changed it to 4 Active wars. The thing that is making you guys lose right now is that pirates have +1 unrest every turn, while your consuls have 0 popularity, allowed unrest to go up to [2/9], and waited until wars got activated which increase unrest for another +2.

In other words, you guys have 2 unrest, and it will increase to 5 at the end of the turn. Then +4 next turn.... which will result in [9/9] = game over.

There is no limit in the number of legions/fleets a commander can command. But Rome can't build more than 24 each.

If you don't command enough legions for a battle, you will either die or suffer a defeat. If you win battles you get popularity and some legions may become veterans loyal to you
