Hi guys !

I'm kinda new to this game but i think it's very good so i purchased premium stuff. Two strategy were very interesting to me, first iron fist, i saw a good topic about it and i start to use it, very strong but in europe you need few turn to get to others countries (because of range lowered). And i was asking myself "is desert storm usable in europe 3/5/10k ?" In fact i used desert storm in world 50k when i started with india, heli and marines allow a fast expansion trought asia but in europe this strategy is much less effective (bc of its cost) i wanted to know if i still a good strategy for europe and 5k for example ?

Yea I use it all the time with countries like ukraine and poland where you have lots of money and you're free to expand. In 3k or 5k ds serbia also works well and ds belarus isnt bad

I was testing the idea of DS spain in 3v3 vs France and it worked amazingly but i can see it being countered quite easily if u have experienced it before.

The most important factor to use DS is knowing if your enemy is using an infantry-related strategy... Otherwise you're better off with SM.

Ever since that militia boosting thing DS became one of the cheapest offensive strategy, no need for ATs, cheap defence, imo far superior to SM regardless of opponent strat
U get a lot mor bang for ur buck (even more than IF tanks) main issue is moving these militias effectively so u want to be around water

I doubt theses concepts are related. We can always agree that GW/IMP holds the cheapest offensive power. The strongest? maybe not.

We can always agree that DS is the best strategy against an infantry-spammer opponent. But if your opponent is not using infantries (trust you're not getting the sweet -2 def bonus) then I simply fail to see it's utility. In this situation whatever you can do with DS you can probably do better with any other strategy.

Experience it vs RA, or Blitz or even GW
u get same price as SM planes for helis, but vs RA and Blitz u destroy his tanks first !! so if u TB him, it's devastating
vs GW same thing u get a -1 def bonus vs militias, so u are more effective than SM planes
vs DS same thing u get bonus vs his defending units for same price
so SM has range, DS has cost efficiency way superior
simple maths really

Edit: I used to play SM a lot, since that militia boost, I play DS instead, and over and over again I notice it's superior effectivness in terms of expansion (fewer units needed) attacking power (u get a bonus regardless of ur opponent strat), and cost of defending (30$ for 5 def vs 60$ for 6 def SM, added benefit being that +1HP in gen stack...)

I must say, you've heavily underestimated the 5 range difference there. To give a practical example, You can't even reach saint petesburg with helis as DS Ukraine.

I also fail to see how DS helis makes it better for you to TB your enemy when SM bombers have more range. Both strategy won't change how TBs works, but with SM you should have more potential cities in range to TB than DS.

Your militias have 5 defense and weak range to defend though, against SM's infantries with 6 defense, critical, and a great range. Not for say that GW might overexpand you since you cant expand to rich countries fast enough.

It's a lot easier to defend Kiev in Turn 3 as SM than DS.

Furthermore, since you can expand to rich countries better with SM you can also get extra bombers for attack.

Don't get me wrong, both strategies have their good things and bad things. But DS is just useless in those situations.

That's only because you're directly going through UK and French Infantries.

If those countries had militias, I assure you that SM would'be better.

I think you are missing a piece of information:

6 bombers needed for 8 militias vs 5 helis
1 helis + 1 marine for 3 militias vs 2 bombers + 1 inf

just google "cost effectivness" I am done here

Useless bonus as with SM you could hit scandi and italy right at Turn 2. DS can't once again, due to range.

Generally, i feel DS is a more short-range strategy while SM is long range. DS > SM in close range though because of the milita, the fact that the helicopters can defend, the helicopter capacity et cetera.
